Power Tool, Household & Specialist Batteries at MTN Shop UK

Choosing the right battery affects how long your tools run, how often you need to recharge and how reliably your equipment performs on site. At MTN Shop UK we stock over 200 batteries, chargers and accessories across Li-ion (lithium ion), NiMH, NiCd, alkaline and lead acid chemistries, with capacities from 1.3Ah up to 12.0Ah and voltages from 1.5V household cells right up to 36V and 54V high power tool platforms.

Power tool batteries by brand and platform

Power tool batteries are not interchangeable between brands. Each manufacturer uses its own slide or pod connection, so you must match the battery to your tool platform:

  • DeWalt XR 18V and FlexVolt 18V/54V: Li-ion slide packs from 1.5Ah to 12.0Ah, compatible across the full XR cordless range.
  • Makita LXT 18V: the industry's most extensive 18V cordless platform, with capacities up to 6.0Ah and high output models for demanding applications.
  • Bosch Professional 18V: ProCORE and standard Li-ion packs compatible with the full Bosch blue range.
  • Einhell Power X-Change 18V: a single battery platform that fits over 350 Einhell tools and garden machines.
  • HiKOKI MultiVolt: a flagship 18V/36V slide pack that automatically switches voltage depending on the tool.
  • Metabo CAS (Cordless Alliance System): 18V Li-ion shared across 40+ brands, ideal for mixed tool fleets.

Household batteries: Duracell, Energizer and more

For everyday devices such as smoke alarms, remote controls, torches and clocks, our household battery range covers AA, AAA, C, D and 9V sizes in alkaline, lithium and rechargeable formats. Top brands include Duracell with Plus, Industrial and Coppertop variants, Energizer Max and Industrial, plus Eveready Gold for budget friendly use.

Chargers, adaptors and accessories

A good charger extends battery life and keeps your tools ready for action. We sell standard, fast, multi-port and multi-voltage chargers for every major platform, from the DeWalt DCB115 XR multi-voltage charger (10.8V to 18V) to the Makita DC18SF four-port LXT charger. Browse the full chargers and accessories range, or our adaptors for cross-platform compatibility where supported.

Battery care and runtime tips

  • Store Li-ion batteries at around 40% to 60% charge for long term storage to maximise lifespan.
  • Avoid leaving batteries in extreme heat or cold, which reduces capacity and cycle life.
  • Use the original manufacturer charger to protect cell chemistry and warranty.
  • For trade fleets, label batteries with purchase dates to rotate stock and identify ageing packs.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Each manufacturer uses its own battery connection and platform, so a DeWalt battery will not fit a Makita tool and vice versa. You must match the battery to the brand and voltage of your tool. Some shared systems exist, such as the Metabo CAS (Cordless Alliance System), which is used by over 40 brands.
Ah stands for ampere hours and indicates the battery's capacity. A higher Ah rating means longer runtime between charges. For example, a 5.0Ah battery will run roughly twice as long as a 2.5Ah battery of the same voltage, though it is also heavier and takes longer to charge.
Li-ion (lithium ion) is the modern standard for power tools and offers high energy density, low self discharge and no memory effect. NiMH (nickel metal hydride) is common in older cordless tools and rechargeable household cells. NiCd (nickel cadmium) is largely phased out due to environmental concerns and lower capacity.
A quality Li-ion power tool battery typically lasts between 3 and 5 years or 1,000 to 1,500 charge cycles, depending on use, storage and charging habits. Storing batteries at moderate temperatures and avoiding deep discharge extends their lifespan significantly.
You should always use the charger recommended by the battery manufacturer. Fast chargers are designed for specific battery chemistries and capacities, and using the wrong charger can reduce battery life, void warranty or, in some cases, damage the cells. Multi voltage chargers work across a brand's range but not across different brands.
Duracell Plus is aimed at consumers and high drain home devices, with long shelf life and reliable performance in remote controls, torches and toys. Duracell Industrial (formerly Procell) is designed for professional use in fleet environments and is sold in bulk packs at lower cost per unit, with the same alkaline performance.
Yes. All batteries and chargers at MTN Shop UK are genuine OEM products supplied directly from authorised channels, with the full manufacturer warranty. We do not sell aftermarket or compatible third party batteries for power tool platforms.
Store Li-ion batteries at around 40% to 60% charge in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat or cold. Never store damaged or swollen batteries. For disposal, take used batteries to a designated recycling point. Most UK retailers selling batteries are required to accept used cells for recycling under WEEE regulations.
