Bits & Holders
Bits and holders is the collection for screwdriver bit sets, bit holders and quick-change adaptors that keep your driver running through a full day of work without stopping to swap bits by hand. You will find complete bit sets in Phillips, Pozidriv, Torx, hex and slotted patterns, magnetic bit holders, quick-change extension holders, colour-coded sets that let you grab the right bit at a glance, and impact-rated bit systems designed for use with modern impact drivers.
Key features across the range: quick-change chucks for one-handed bit swaps, magnetic sleeves that hold the screw and bit together on the way to the fixing, colour-coded shanks for fast identification in mixed-pattern work, impact-rated construction for use with cordless impact drivers, and extension holders for reaching screws in awkward positions. The three brands in the collection are Irwin (the widest range, including the Lock-n-Load™ quick-change system), Stanley (the British trade reference for value bit sets) and Bahco (the Swedish premium, best known for the 54 and 100-piece colour-coded bit sets).
This collection sits under the wider Bits, Blades & Accessories category. If you also need the individual drill bits or hole saws that fit these holders, see our Bits collection.

Bits & Holders – Product list
Bit sets and bit holders at MTN Shop UK
The Bits & Holders collection covers the practical side of driver work: complete bit sets that give you every common pattern in one case, quick-change bit holders that speed up screw work, magnetic sleeves that hold the screw upright while you position it, and the extension holders and adaptors that let you reach into confined spaces. This is the collection joiners, electricians, kitchen fitters, cabinet makers and site chippies reach for when they are kitting out a tool belt or a driver case, and it complements the individual drill bits and hole saws in our main Bits collection.
Screwdriver bit sets
The bit sets are the largest part of this collection: pre-organised cases of the bit patterns you actually use on site, sized from small 25-piece pocket kits up to the Bahco 100-piece professional workshop set. The Phillips, Pozidriv and Torx patterns dominate modern UK trade work, with hex, slotted and square drive added in the fuller sets for period property, joinery and specialist fixings. Standout sets in the range:
- Bahco 59/S54BC Colour-Coded Bit Set (54 piece): the colour-coded shank system means you can pick the right size Phillips or Pozidriv from a running belt without stopping to read the marking.
- Bahco 59/S100BC Colour Coded Bit Set (100 piece): the workshop-grade set covering every pattern and size a professional will meet across joinery, mechanical and general fixing work.
- Irwin bit sets in impact-rated and standard specifications, sized for pocket to workshop use.
- Stanley bit sets for the trade value point where you need a reliable pattern range without paying premium.
Bit holders and quick-change systems
A bit holder is the piece that sits in your drill chuck and takes the bits themselves. The quick-change bit holders in this collection let you swap bits by pulling the collar back and dropping in the new bit, so you can work through Phillips, Pozidriv and Torx patterns on the same run without a chuck key or hand-tightening. The Irwin Lock-n-Load™ Quick Change Extension Bit Holder in 150mm 1/4in is the standout: the extension length gets your driver body clear of tight spaces (deep sockets, cabinet interiors, ceiling roses), while the quick-change collar keeps bit swaps to a couple of seconds.
Magnetic sleeves and screw holders
The magnetic sleeve is one of those small tools that changes how you work once you get used to it. Slide it over the bit, drop the screw into the sleeve, and the magnet holds the screw upright against the bit while you position it against the workpiece: no more dropping fixings into cavities, no more holding the screw with your other hand at height, and much faster running of long screw sequences on plasterboard, cabinet work and second-fix joinery.
Impact-rated bits for impact drivers
Modern impact drivers put enormous rotational torque through the bit, especially at the start of the strike cycle. Standard screwdriver bits shatter under repeated impact loading, and even good bits from a hand-driving range will crack across the flats within a couple of days of impact driver use. Impact-rated bits use a harder tip with a more flexible shank that absorbs the impact energy rather than transmitting it into brittle failure. If you are running a cordless impact driver at all regularly (Makita, DeWalt, Milwaukee), the extra cost of impact-rated bits pays back in bit life.
