Araldite® Epoxy Adhesives at MTN Shop UK

Araldite® is the world's first epoxy adhesive brand, developed by Ciba in Basel, Switzerland in 1946 and now part of the Bostik (Arkema Group). Used in everything from aerospace and automotive to model making and household repairs, Araldite® has become the generic name for high strength two part epoxy. The brand's hallmark is consistent performance: when you mix equal parts of resin and hardener, you get a permanent bond on almost any rigid surface that no single component adhesive can match.

Araldite® Standard Epoxy

Araldite® Standard Epoxy is the original formulation, delivering the highest bond strength in the range with a working time of around 90 minutes and full cure in 24 hours. It is ideal for high stress joints, structural repairs, model making and any application where maximum strength matters more than fast cure. Available in 2 x 15ml tubes and a convenient 24ml syringe with dual cartridge dispensing for clean mixing.

Araldite® Rapid Epoxy

Araldite® Rapid Epoxy sets in 5 minutes and reaches handling strength within 10 minutes, ideal for quick repairs where you cannot clamp the workpiece for long. Slightly lower ultimate strength than Standard but more than sufficient for most household, automotive and trade jobs. Available in tubes and the 24ml syringe.

Araldite® Instant Epoxy

Araldite® Instant Epoxy is the fastest setting formulation, with a working time of just 90 seconds and handling strength in 5 minutes. Use it for emergency on site repairs, quick fixes and bonding small parts where speed is critical. Supplied in a 24ml syringe for one handed dispensing.

Araldite® Crystal Epoxy

Araldite® Crystal Epoxy cures to a fully transparent finish, making it the right choice for repairs where the bond line will be visible, such as glass, ceramics, decorative items and clear plastics. The cure profile is similar to Araldite Standard, giving high strength once fully cured. Available in 2 x 15ml tubes.

Araldite® Steel Epoxy

Araldite® Steel Epoxy is a steel filled formulation designed for repairing and bonding metal parts, with high resistance to oil, water and most chemicals. It can be drilled, tapped, sanded and painted once cured, making it ideal for filling cracks in metal castings, repairing threads, sealing leaks in pipes and rebuilding worn metal surfaces. Available in 2 x 15ml tubes.

How to use Araldite® epoxy

  • Clean and degrease both surfaces. Light sanding helps create a key for the adhesive.
  • Dispense equal parts of resin and hardener and mix thoroughly for at least 30 seconds.
  • Apply a thin even layer to both surfaces and bring them together within the working time.
  • Clamp or hold the parts until handling strength is reached.
  • Allow full cure time for maximum strength, typically 24 hours for Standard formulations.
  • Work above 15°C for best results. Lower temperatures slow the cure significantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Araldite® is the world's original epoxy adhesive brand, invented by Ciba in Basel, Switzerland in 1946. The brand is now part of the Bostik group, owned by Arkema. Araldite® has become the generic name for high strength two part epoxy across industries from aerospace and automotive to general repair and DIY.
Araldite® Standard has a working time of around 90 minutes and reaches full cure in 24 hours, delivering the highest bond strength in the range. Araldite® Rapid sets in 5 minutes and reaches handling strength in around 10 minutes, with slightly lower ultimate strength but enough for most jobs. Use Standard for structural repairs and Rapid for quick fixes.
Araldite® epoxy bonds most rigid plastics including ABS, PVC, polycarbonate, acrylic and fibreglass. It does not bond well to flexible plastics, polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP), as these have low surface energy. For PE and PP, use a specialist plastic adhesive instead.
Yes. Cured Araldite® epoxy is fully waterproof and resistant to most oils, fuels and chemicals. It typically tolerates continuous service temperatures up to around 80°C and short exposure to higher temperatures. Araldite® Steel formulations offer additional chemical and water resistance for metal repairs.
Araldite® Crystal Epoxy cures to a fully transparent finish, making it the right choice for repairs where the bond line will be visible. Use it on glass, ceramic, decorative items, clear plastics and any application where a yellow or amber epoxy line would spoil the look.
Dispense equal parts of resin and hardener onto a clean disposable surface. Mix thoroughly with a stick or spatula for at least 30 seconds, scraping the sides to ensure the components are fully combined. Incomplete mixing is the main cause of weak epoxy bonds. The 24ml syringe versions dispense the correct ratio automatically.
