Circular Saw Blades

Circular saw blades for cutting wood, metal, masonry, plastics and composite materials, in every common diameter from mini 85mm plunge blades through the standard 165mm and 190mm circular saw sizes up to 216mm, 254mm and 305mm mitre saw and chop saw blades. This is the collection joiners, kitchen fitters, metalworkers, roofers and site chippies reach for when they need the right blade for the job rather than whatever came in the box with the saw.

You will find TCT (Tungsten Carbide Tipped) wood blades in fine finish, general purpose and rip configurations, metal cutting blades for steel, aluminium and non-ferrous materials, multi-material blades that go through wood with embedded nails, diamond blades for masonry, concrete and paving, plus plunge saw and track saw blades for cabinet work and clean sheet cuts. Common arbor sizes covered are 16mm, 20mm, 25.4mm and 30mm.

The brands here are the ones UK trade users trust: DEWALT (Extreme Runtime and XR ranges), Irwin (Marathon range), Faithfull, Bosch, LENOX (bi-metal for metal), Bahco, Makita, Trend and Norton Clipper (diamond).

Circular Saw Blades – Product list

Circular saw blades at MTN Shop UK

The blade does most of the work on a circular saw. A dull or wrong-tooth blade will burn the edges of your timber, chip out melamine faces, wander off a straight cut, load up with pitch, and make the motor work three times harder than it should. The right blade at the right speed goes through cleanly, leaves a finish that needs no sanding, and lasts across hundreds of cuts. The Circular Saw Blades collection at MTN Shop UK is built to give you the correct specification for whatever you are cutting, across the diameter ranges that fit UK trade saws.

Wood cutting blades (TCT)

Tungsten carbide tipped blades are the standard for wood work. The tooth count and geometry decide how the blade cuts:

  • Rip blades (12T to 24T): low tooth count, deep gullets, fast material removal along the grain. Used for ripping softwood and hardwood to size on table saws and circular saws.
  • General purpose (24T to 40T): balanced cutting for a mix of rip and cross-cut work. The blade most decorators, joiners and site chippies reach for by default.
  • Cross-cut and fine finish (40T to 60T+): higher tooth count, ATB (alternate top bevel) geometry, cleaner finish across the grain. Used for architrave, skirting, kitchen worktops, and any cut where the finish will be seen.
  • Ultra-fine finish (60T to 80T+): for melamine-faced board, veneered ply, laminate flooring and any surface prone to chip-out. TCG (triple chip grind) or Hi-ATB geometry gives the cleanest exit face.

Metal cutting blades

Cutting metal with a circular saw needs the right blade or the wrong things happen quickly (blade damage, sparking, dangerous grabbing). LENOX bi-metal blades and the DEWALT metal cutting range are engineered for this: harder tooth geometry, slower feed rate, and dry cutting for mild steel, aluminium, copper, brass and non-ferrous materials. Used by fabricators, metal roofers and installers cutting stud rail, cable tray, decking screws and profiled sheet.

Diamond and masonry blades

Diamond blades cut concrete, brick, block, natural stone, paving and reinforced concrete. Segmented rim blades give faster cutting with more chip clearance and are the specification for dry cutting on angle grinders and larger circular saws. Continuous rim blades give a cleaner cut on tile, porcelain and finished stone. Norton Clipper is the trade reference for diamond blades in the collection, with sizes covering the common 115mm and 125mm angle grinder diameters up to 230mm+ for cut-off saws and floor saws.

Multi-material and demolition blades

The multi-material blade is the honest workhorse for site work where you do not know what is inside the wall or the joist: nail-embedded timber, mixed material, first-fix demolition. These blades have a heavier tooth and a shock-resistant carbide tip that survives contact with hidden fixings. Not for finish work, but the right specification for strip-outs, first-fix and repair work where blade wear is expected.

Plunge saw and track saw blades

Track saw and plunge saw work (Festool-style, Makita SP6000, DEWALT DWS520) needs blades engineered for the thinner kerf and the guide rail system: usually 160mm, 165mm or 168mm diameter, with tooth counts matched to the material (48T for general, 60T+ for melamine and veneer). The clean edge on both faces of the cut is what makes plunge saws worth the price, but only if the blade matches the specification.

Diameter and arbor size guide

  • 85mm: mini circular saws and plunge saws.
  • 125mm and 136mm: compact cordless saws (Makita, Milwaukee sub-compact ranges).
  • 160mm, 165mm, 168mm: standard cordless circular saws and track saws.
  • 184mm and 190mm: mains-powered circular saws.
  • 210mm and 216mm: sliding mitre saws (compact).
  • 254mm: full-size mitre saws.
  • 305mm and larger: chop saws, cut-off saws, table saws.

Common arbor sizes are 16mm, 20mm, 25.4mm (1 inch) and 30mm. Always check the saw manual before ordering and confirm the arbor matches; reducer rings are available for stepping down from a larger arbor.

Choosing the right blade

  • Ripping softwood and hardwood on a table saw: 24T rip blade, deep gullets.
  • General site work on a circular saw: 24T to 40T TCT general purpose.
  • Cross-cutting skirting, architrave and worktops: 40T to 60T fine finish TCT.
  • Melamine-faced kitchen board, veneered ply, laminate flooring: 60T+ TCG or Hi-ATB fine finish.
  • Mild steel, aluminium, cable tray: LENOX bi-metal or DEWALT metal cutting.
  • Brick, block, concrete, paving: segmented diamond blade in the correct diameter.
  • Tile and porcelain: continuous rim diamond blade.
  • Strip-out and first-fix demolition: multi-material blade with shock-resistant tip.
  • Plunge saw and track saw work: matched blade for the saw specification, tooth count to material.
