Plastic Blades
Plastic blades and replacement cutting blades for hover mowers, robotic mowers and grass trimmers - the small plastic cutting parts that wear out regularly and need frequent replacement to keep the machine cutting cleanly. This is the collection for domestic gardeners doing routine mower maintenance, garden maintenance contractors, robotic mower owners and users of Flymo, Qualcast, Einhell, Batavia, Gardena and equivalent lightweight cutting machines.
You will find Flymo hover mower plastic blades in the range of colours and codes matched to specific Flymo models (FL240, FL241, FL245, FL246), Qualcast plastic blades (QT028, BQ026), general-purpose plastic blades (GP205/FIQ8, GP295) that fit multiple machines, robotic mower replacement blades (GA400 pack for Gardena robotic mowers), and plastic trimmer blades for lightweight grass trimmers (Batavia, Einhell). Key features across the range: OEM cross-reference compatibility with the original manufacturer specifications, multipack availability for regular replacement, and fold-back safety design that pivots on impact rather than shattering.
The brands here are the trade references for garden machinery plastic blades: ALM Manufacturing (the widest range with the FL-series Flymo blades, QT/BQ Qualcast blades, GP general-purpose blades and GR Gardena blades), Batavia (with the Nylon Trimmer Blades pack for Batavia strimmers), and Einhell (with the Plastic Trimmer Blades range).

Plastic Blades – Product list
Plastic blades for hover mowers, robotic mowers and trimmers at MTN Shop UK
Plastic blades on garden machinery are frequent-replacement consumables, not lifetime parts. A pair of Flymo hover mower plastic blades typically lasts a few months of regular domestic use before the cutting edge wears down enough that the mower stops cutting cleanly; robotic mower plastic blades wear out even faster because they cut continuously through the growing season. Keeping spare plastic blades in the shed means five-minute replacement rather than a broken-down mower and a trip to the merchant halfway through mowing the lawn.
Flymo hover mower plastic blades (ALM FL-series)
The Flymo hover mower is the dominant UK hover mower design with millions of units in domestic gardens, and the plastic blades are the fastest-wearing consumable on the machine. The ALM FL-series covers the standard Flymo plastic blade fits: ALM FL240, ALM FL241, ALM FL245 and ALM FL246 Plastic Blades each fit specific Flymo model ranges (Turbo Lite, Glide Master, Compact, Micro and other variants). Blade colour and shape identifies the correct fit for each Flymo model - always cross-reference the ALM part number against your Flymo model before ordering, or check the colour and shape of your existing blades. Most Flymo hover mowers use two blades per machine (one either side of the cutting disc) and both should be replaced together for balanced cutting.
Qualcast and general-purpose plastic blades
The ALM QT028 Plastic Blades (green) fit specific Qualcast hover mower and grass trimmer models, and the ALM BQ026 Plastic Blades (red) cover Bosch/Qualcast compatible fits. The ALM GP205/FIQ8 and ALM GP295 general-purpose plastic blades fit multiple machine models across brands - the multi-fit convenience for users who service several different machines. The ALM GR182 Plastic Blade covers Gardena hover mower compatibility, and ALM PD115 Plastic Blades cover the PD-specific fit specification.
Robotic mower blades
Robotic lawn mowers (Gardena SILENO, Husqvarna Automower, McCulloch ROB, Bosch Indego and similar) use small pivoting plastic blades mounted on the cutting disc - typically 3 blades per machine, replaced every few weeks to few months depending on lawn size and cutting frequency. The Trimmer Plastic Blades x 20 GA400 pack is the Gardena robotic mower compatible replacement blade set, giving 20 blades for full replacement cycles across the mowing season. Robotic mower blades wear faster than any other garden machinery blade because the mower runs continuously through the growing season - always keep spares.
Plastic trimmer blades
The Batavia Nylon Trimmer Blades Pack covers replacement plastic blades for Batavia grass trimmers, and the Einhell Plastic Trimmer Blades range covers equivalent Einhell strimmer compatibility. Plastic trimmer blades are the alternative to nylon trimmer line - they last longer than nylon (multiple use cycles), cut light grass and edges cleanly, and are quicker to change than winding new line onto a spool. Not suitable for tough vegetation (use a metal brushcutter blade for that work) but ideal for regular lawn edging and light trimming.
Plastic blades vs metal blades: which to use
- Plastic blades are the correct specification for hover mowers, robotic mowers and lightweight grass trimmers - light enough not to strain small motors and batteries, fold-back safety design on impact (fold rather than shatter or throw debris), suitable for light grass cutting.
- Metal blades are the correct specification for rotary mowers, brushcutters and heavier machines - handle thicker grass, weeds and brush, longer service life between replacements, can be sharpened between replacements. See our metal blades collection for rotary mower and brushcutter blades.
Never fit a metal blade to a hover mower or robotic mower - the machine motor is not designed for the extra weight and load, and the safety design of the machine assumes plastic blades that pivot on impact.
How to identify the correct plastic blade
Three methods: check the old blade for the ALM part number or original OEM part number (usually moulded into the blade back); cross-reference your mower model number against the ALM catalogue; or match by physical characteristics (blade colour, length, mounting hole shape) as a last resort. Colour is often the quickest visual identifier for Flymo blades - each model range uses specific colour blades. If you are not sure of the correct fit, take a photo of your existing blades and the mower, or contact us with the mower model before ordering.
