Large Tube Clamps (Mammoth)

Large tube clamps — known as the Mammoth range by Doughty — are heavy-duty aluminium clamps designed for tubes with an external diameter of 60mm to 63mm. They are used in theatre, film, TV and live events wherever a larger tube diameter is required, such as heavy truss chords, large-diameter lighting bars and outdoor structures.

Mammoth clamp types

• Hook clamp (slimline) — 30mm wide profile fits between truss webs; suits large luminaires on 60–63mm tube
• Half coupler — standard Mammoth clamp with slotted base for M12 bolt fixing; SWL 500kg
• Swivel coupler — connects 60–63mm tube to 48–51mm tube with 360° of movement; SWL 500kg
• 90° fixed coupler — joins 60–63mm and 48–51mm tubes at a right angle; SWL 500kg
• All weather clamp — stainless steel and AW6082 T6 aluminium construction for outdoor events and touring

What to look for

• Tube diameter — all Mammoth clamps fit 60–63mm OD tube; swivel and fixed couplers also connect to standard 48–51mm tube
• SWL — up to 500kg on half couplers and couplers; slimline hook clamps rated to 300kg
• Profile width — slimline (30mm) versions are designed to fit between truss web bars where a standard-width clamp would not clear
• Finish — polished aluminium or black powder coat; all weather variants for outdoor use

Safety note: Always use a secondary safety bond or safety cable when rigging any fixture overhead, regardless of clamp type.
