Half Couplers

Doughty half couplers — also known as wrap-around clamps — are the standard aluminium clamp for attaching stage lighting fixtures, moving heads, speakers and rigging accessories directly to truss chords and lighting bars. Unlike a hook clamp, a half coupler wraps fully around the tube and tightens with a single M10 or M12 bolt, giving a secure, low-profile fixing rated up to 500kg WLL. TÜV approved and used across theatre, film, TV studios and live events.

Types in This Range

• Half Coupler (Standard, 48mm) — the core product. Fits 48–51mm tube. Available in standard, lightweight and super lightweight versions. SWL up to 500kg.
• Atom Half Coupler (25–38mm) — for smaller tube diameters including lightweight truss chords and stand centre tubes. WLL 100kg. TÜV approved.
• Mammoth Half Coupler (60–63mm) — for larger diameter tubes and heavy truss chords. Also available in slimline version. SWL 500kg.
• TV Doughty Clamp (28mm Receiver) — half coupler with integrated 28mm receiver for drop arms and pantographs. Designed for TV and film. Also available as quick-release version.
• Eye & Hanging Clamp — half coupler fitted with an eyenut for wire-hung loads. Available for 48mm, 60mm Mammoth and 25–38mm Atom tube sizes.
• 90° Fixed Coupler — joins two tubes at a right angle. Used for building truss grids and structural connections. Available in 48mm and 60mm Mammoth versions.
• Swivel Coupler — two clamps with 360° of free movement. Used for joining tubes at any angle or connecting parallel runs. Available in standard and slimline versions, and 60mm Mammoth.

Available Tube Diameters

• 25–38mm (Atom) — for smaller tube and lightweight truss
• 48–51mm — industry standard for stage lighting and truss applications
• 60–63mm (Mammoth) — for larger truss chords and heavy-duty applications

What to Look For

• SWL — standard half couplers rated to 500kg; Atom versions 100kg; TV Doughty Clamp 200kg; always verify the rated load for your application
• Profile width — slimline versions (30mm wide) fit between truss web bars where a standard 50mm coupler would not clear
• Fixing type — standard versions use M10 or M12 bolt; TV Doughty Clamp versions include a 28mm receiver for drop arms and pantographs
• TÜV / CE certification — all Doughty half couplers are independently certified for entertainment rigging
