Doughty Hook Clamps - Stage Lighting Pipe Clamps for Theatre and Live Events

The Doughty hook clamp is the most widely used stage rigging clamp in the world. Known as a pipe clamp or C clamp in the US, it hooks over a lighting bar or scaffold tube and locks with a single bolt and wing nut. Available in steel and aluminium, in light, medium and heavy duty versions, covering tube diameters from 18mm to 75mm, the Doughty hook clamp range covers every stage lighting application from a school drama hall to an arena touring rig.

Choose by Tube Diameter

  • 18mm to 38mm: light duty hook clamps for smaller tube diameters including 18mm, 20mm and 30mm. Suitable for studio bars, stand centre tubes and decorative truss.
  • 48mm to 51mm: the industry standard for stage lighting bars and scaffold tube. Available in light duty, medium duty, heavy duty, slimline, compact, extra long, double-ended parallel, double-ended 90° twist, double-ended 180° twist, all weather and TV spec versions with integrated 29mm receiver.
  • 60mm to 75mm: for larger tube diameters. Standard and heavy duty versions available for tubes up to 75mm.

Hook Clamp Types

  • Standard hook clamps: the most affordable option. Steel construction, zinc plated or black powder coat, for general stage use on 48mm lighting bars.
  • Lightweight and slimline versions: aluminium construction, M12 bolt fixing, 30mm wide. Fit between truss webs where standard 50mm clamps cannot clear.
  • Heavy duty versions: higher SWL rating for heavier fixtures including moving heads and speaker cabinets.
  • All weather versions: for outdoor events, festivals and installations where the clamp will be exposed to the elements.
  • Double-ended versions: parallel and twist versions for mounting a single fixture or bar at two rigging points simultaneously.
  • TV spec hook clamp: hook clamp with integrated 29mm TV spigot receiver for direct fixture connection without a separate spigot adapter.

  • SWL: match the rated load to your fixture weight. Doughty hook clamps start at 40kg SWL. Heavy duty versions go up to 150kg.
  • Material: steel for affordable permanent installs. Aluminium for touring and weight-sensitive rigs.
  • Width: slimline versions at 30mm wide fit between truss webs where standard 50mm clamps cannot clear.
