Trend Woodworking Tools at MTN Shop UK

Founded in Watford in 1955, Trend Machinery & Cutting Tools Ltd began as a router cutter specialist serving the British furniture and joinery trade. Seven decades later, Trend is one of the most respected woodworking brands in the UK and Europe, with a catalogue that covers everything from a single router bit to complete dust extraction and respiratory protection systems. The brand's reputation rests on tungsten carbide tipped cutters, precision ground bodies and tooling that holds its edge through demanding production runs.

Trend router bits and cutters

The largest part of the Trend range is router bits and accessories, with over 140 products in our collection alone. Categories include straight cutters for grooving and trimming, bearing guided trim cutters for laminate and edge work, profile cutters such as roundover, ogee, cove and chamfer, dovetail cutters for jig work, jointing cutters for tongue and groove, and specialist cutters for hinge recessing, kitchen worktops and panel raising. Most cutters are available in 1/4in and 1/2in shank options to suit handheld routers and router tables.

Trend saw blades

Trend supplies TCT (tungsten carbide tipped) saw blades for circular saws, mitre saws and plunge saws, with tooth counts and grind patterns matched to the cut. Lower tooth count blades give faster ripping cuts, while high tooth count blades give cleaner crosscuts on plywood, MDF and finished panels. The collection covers blades for handheld saws as well as table and chop saw fitments, with anti vibration slots and noise reduction features on the premium ranges.

Trend countersinks and drill accessories

The Trend UNI/CS Countersink is a popular item in the range, an adjustable depth countersink that drills the clearance hole, countersink and depth stop in one operation. The wider drill accessories range includes screw extractors, screwdriver bits and wood screws matched to common joinery fixings.

Trend precision measuring and marking

  • Trend Digital Angle Rule 500mm: a digital protractor and rule combination, reading angles to 0.1° and measurements in metric and imperial, ideal for stair work, roofing and complex joinery.
  • Trend T-Square: a precision T-square for marking out sheet material, with engraved metric and imperial scales.
  • Squares, marking gauges and stops for accurate joinery setup.

Trend Airshield and PPE replacement parts

Trend also makes the well known Airshield Pro powered air respirator for woodworking, with our range covering matching respirator replacement parts, dust masks and PPE consumables. The Airshield system combines a hard hat, visor and powered filtered air supply, designed for routing, sanding and any operation that generates fine wood dust.

Sharpening, biscuit jointing and accessories

The collection also covers diamond sharpening stones and honing accessories to keep chisels and plane blades in working order, plus biscuit jointer cutters for the Trend and other compatible biscuit jointers. Smaller categories cover chisels, planer blades, lifting tools, joint connectors, workbenches and toolboxes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Trend Machinery and Cutting Tools Ltd is a British company founded in Watford in 1955. Originally a router cutter specialist serving the UK furniture and joinery trade, Trend has grown into one of the most respected woodworking brands in Europe, with a catalogue covering router bits, saw blades, precision measuring tools and powered respiratory protection.
The shank is the smooth part of the bit that fits into the router collet. A 1/4in shank fits smaller handheld routers and is suitable for light cutting. A 1/2in shank is more rigid, transfers less vibration to the cut and is preferred for heavy cutting, large profile cutters and router table work. Always check that your router has the correct collet size before ordering.
TCT stands for Tungsten Carbide Tipped. Each tooth of a TCT blade has a carbide cutting tip brazed onto a steel body. Carbide is far harder than steel and holds its edge much longer, especially on abrasive materials like MDF, chipboard and laminated panels. TCT blades cost more upfront than plain steel blades but last many times longer before needing resharpening.
Lower tooth count blades (around 24 to 40 teeth) give faster ripping cuts along the grain of softwood. Medium tooth count blades (around 48 to 60 teeth) give a balance of speed and finish for general crosscutting. High tooth count blades (around 80 to 100 teeth) give the cleanest finish on plywood, MDF, melamine and finished panels where chip out matters. Always match the blade to your saw's maximum tooth count rating.
The Trend UNI/CS is an adjustable depth countersink that combines three operations in one tool. It drills the clearance hole for the screw, cuts the countersink for the head, and includes a depth stop so each hole stops at the same depth. This saves time on production runs and gives a consistent finish where many screws need to sit flush.
The Trend Airshield Pro is a powered air respirator designed for woodworking. It combines a hard hat shell, full face visor and a battery powered filtered air supply that delivers clean air across the user's face. It protects against fine wood dust, which is a known respiratory hazard in joinery and routing. Our range includes replacement filters, visors and PPE consumables for the Airshield system.
