Stands

Lighting stands are freestanding supports used to position stage lights, studio fixtures, cameras and other equipment at the required height and angle when overhead rigging is not available or practical. From compact club stands for mobile DJs and small venues to heavy-duty overhead stands for studio and broadcast use, the Doughty stand range covers the full spectrum of entertainment and production applications.

  • Roller stands — stands mounted on castors for easy repositioning during get-in and rehearsal without fully disassembling the rig
  • Followspot stands — stable, precision stands designed to support followspot fixtures at the correct operating height and angle
  • Winch stands — crank-operated stands for safely raising heavy lighting rigs and truss systems to working height
  • Baby roller stands — compact, low-profile roller stands for close-to-floor lighting positions and studio use

What to look for

  • Load capacity (SWL) — always verify the stand's rated load against the combined weight of fixture, clamp and any accessories
  • Maximum height — check the stand reaches the required working height for your application
  • Tube diameter — most Doughty stands accept standard 28mm or 35mm spigots; confirm compatibility with your fixtures and adaptors
  • Stability — use sandbags on stand legs when working at height or in public areas

Safety note: Always sandbag lighting stands in any location where people may be present. Never exceed the stand's rated load capacity.
