Half Couplers

Half Couplers are the standard way to attach lighting fixtures, speakers, moving heads and other equipment directly to truss chords and lighting bars. A half coupler wraps around roughly half the tube and tightens with a single bolt or wing nut — giving a secure, low-profile fixing that keeps rigs clean and allows multiple fixtures to sit close together on a dense bar.

Types in this range

• Half coupler — single clamp for attaching fixtures to 48–51mm tube or truss chord; available in standard and slimline profiles
• 90° fixed coupler — joins two tubes at a right angle; used for building truss grids and structural connections
• Swivel coupler — two clamps back to back with 360° of movement; used for joining tubes at any angle or connecting parallel runs
• Eye clamp / hanging clamp — half coupler with an integrated eyenut for suspending wire-hung loads from a bar or truss chord

Available tube diameters

• 25–38mm (Atom) — for smaller tube and lightweight truss
• 48–51mm — industry standard for most stage lighting and truss applications
• 60–63mm (Mammoth) — for larger truss chords and heavy-duty applications

What to look for

• SWL — standard half couplers are rated to 500kg; slimline and Atom versions lower; always check the rated load for your application
• TÜV / CE certification — all Doughty couplers are independently certified for entertainment rigging
• Profile width — slimline versions (30mm) fit between truss web bars where a standard coupler would not clear
