Padlocks
Padlocks at MTN Shop UK
At MTN Shop UK we sell padlocks covering combination and keyed locks, brass and laminated steel bodies, hardened steel and boron-alloy high-security models, weatherproof and marine designs, and closed, long and standard shackle formats, alongside the chains and hasps that go with them. The range includes established security brands such as ABUS, Squire, Master Lock, Yale and Union, with options from everyday locking through to insurance-rated, attack-resistant padlocks.
It is a practical mix for site teams locking down containers, cabins, gates and tool stores, locksmiths and facilities managers, and anyone securing sheds, bikes, vans and plant. Many ranges are available keyed alike, so one key opens every lock on a site, or keyed to differ where areas need to stay separate.
Pair padlocks with the rest of our locks and security, toolboxes and tool storage and ratchet straps.

Padlocks explained: types, materials and security grades
A padlock is only as good as the match between the lock, what it secures and the level of risk. The range at MTN Shop UK spans low-cost general-purpose locks through to attack-resistant, insurance-rated models from brands such as ABUS, Squire, Master Lock, Yale and Union, so it helps to understand the main choices before ordering.
Combination and keyed padlocks
Keyed padlocks suit most fixed applications and can be supplied keyed alike or keyed to differ. Combination padlocks remove the need to carry keys, which is useful for shared access such as gates, lockers and key boxes. Multi-wheel combination locks resist guessing, for example the Squire CP40/2.5 4-wheel padlock with a 40mm body and a 63mm extra-long shackle for chains and hasps.
Body and shackle materials
Bodies run from solid brass and laminated steel up to solid hardened steel and boron alloy. Shackle diameters typically range from around 4mm on small locker and luggage locks to 13mm and above on container and gate padlocks, in body widths from roughly 20mm to 80mm. A closed or shrouded shackle leaves little metal exposed, which removes the leverage that bolt croppers rely on, so it is the safer choice for exposed gates, plant and yards.
Weatherproof and marine padlocks
For outdoor and coastal use, weatherproof bodies, covers and seals keep the mechanism working through rain, salt and grit. Marine-grade locks such as the Squire CP50S 50mm rustproof combination padlock are built to resist corrosion on boats, trailers and exposed sites, where a standard padlock would soon seize.
Security grades and standards
Padlocks are classified for performance and attack resistance under BS EN 12320, which sets grades from low through to high security. For insurance and risk matching, the independent Sold Secure scheme, run by the Master Locksmiths Association, rates locks Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond. As a rough guide, sheds and low-risk stores suit lower grades, while bikes, motorcycles, plant and high-value assets call for Gold or Diamond.
Choosing the right padlock
Start with exposure and value. For an internal store or low-risk shed, a brass or laminated padlock is enough. For gates, containers and plant, choose a hardened or boron shackle with a closed-shackle body and match it to a hardened chain or hasp of similar grade, since the weakest part decides the result. Outdoors or near the coast, specify a weatherproof or marine lock. Where one key should open many locks, order keyed alike across the job.
Build your kit with padlocks from Squire, ABUS and Union, plus safety gloves for handling chains and cut hardware.
