Disc diameter and attachment method both need to match your specific sander before ordering; a 125mm hook and loop disc won't fit a machine built for 115mm or 150mm discs, and fixing types (hook and loop, holed, plain) aren't interchangeable between sander systems.

Hook and loop sanding discs
Hook and loop discs cover the widest range of diameters here. Faithfull's DID3 range at 125mm spans Coarse, 80G, Medium Fine and Very Fine, while the DID2 range covers the same grit progression at 150mm. IRWIN's 125mm Sanding Disc Set comes in 5, 10 and 25 piece packs, and Flexovit's Hook & Loop range spans 115mm and 125mm in coarse through extra fine grades, plus an Assorted 125mm pack (25 pieces). Metabo's 125mm Assorted Pack (25 pieces) rounds out the standard hook and loop options.
Fibre discs
Fibre discs use a rigid backing suited to heavier stock removal than a standard hook and loop disc, typically mounted on an angle grinder with a backing pad. Flexovit's Aluminium Oxide Fibre Disc range covers 115mm from Extra Coarse 36G through to Fine 80G, and 125mm in Fine 80G.
Drill mountable discs
For sanding with a standard power drill rather than a dedicated sander, Flexovit's Drill Mountable Disc range at 125mm covers Coarse 50G, Medium 80G and Fine 120G, giving a sanding option where a dedicated sander isn't available or practical for the job.
Floor sanding discs
Faithfull's Floor Disc range, in E-weight aluminium oxide at 178mm, covers a wide grit spread from 24G for aggressive stock removal on floor sanding machines, through 60G and 80G, up to 120G for final finishing before sealing or varnishing.
Dry wall sander discs
For plasterboard and drywall sanding machines, Evolution's Dry Wall Sander Pads cover 80G, 120G and 240G. Faithfull extends compatibility further with dedicated discs for Vitrex machines and Flex machines at 225mm, alongside a Plain 225mm Assorted pack for machines using a plain rather than hook and loop fitting.
Long reach sander discs
For plasterboard and ceiling sanding with a long reach pole sander, Vitrex's disc range covers 60G up through 240G, giving a full progression from initial levelling through to fine finishing before painting.
Choosing the right disc diameter
Common diameters in this range are 115mm, 125mm, 150mm, 178mm and 225mm, each matched to specific sander types: 115-125mm suits random orbital sanders, 150mm suits certain orbital and rotary sanders, 178mm suits floor sanding machines, and 225mm suits drywall sander poles. Always confirm your exact machine's disc size before ordering.
